AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY NEWS

sponsor a Fiesta dinner on April 9,
2010, beginning at 6:00 p.m., the
proceeds of which will assist in funding
their Girls State program, which will be
at Texas Lutheran University.
Membership dues in the Auxiliary
are now past due; and, if any members
have not paid their dues for 2009-2010,
please do so immediately.
The Auxiliary’s general
membership meeting is on the 1st Tuesday
of each month, and any wife, daughter or
otherwise qualified relative of anyone
who is eligible for membership in The
American Legion, are welcome to join.

On December 12, 2009,
The
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 560 had a
great annual Christmas Party for
residents of the Richmond State School.
Ten patients from Richmond State
School were transported to Post 560 by
bus, entertained, provided lunch and
refreshments, visited with Santa, and
listened to Christmas music provided for
them by Ron and Rita Rebstock.
Each student was provided with a
Christmas stocking, containing snacks
and other goodies.
The menu consisted of sandwiches,
cup cakes, cookies and punch.
For those who may be unaware, the
patients of the Richmond State School
are profoundly handicapped, mentally and
generally physically, and often do not
have family members with whom to share
the Christmas holidays.
This party is an annual
charitable project of the Auxiliary,
funded by the American Legion, which
requires much hard work, dedication and
organization.
The auxiliary wishes to
thank Harvey Rasco for his kind
donation toward the project, this year
and in the past.. The Auxiliary also
wishes to thank Santa for coming all the
way from the North Pole to to brighten
the lives of these special patients.
The Auxiliary wishes to remind all of
its members that their dues are
delinquent after December 31, 2009.
If you have neglected to pay your
dues, please do so immediately.

Hi everyone,
It’s hard to believe we are already into
March.
At our last General meeting on Feb 3,
we all voted to raise our dues.
The seniors dues are now $20.00 and
juniors $5.00.
If you have not yet paid your dues as
of January 31, 2009, then you have lost all
privileges.
Remember, you can pay your dues any
time, the sooner the better so you won’t
lose your privileges.
On Friday, March 6th, the Aux will be having a
spaghetti dinner with salad and garlic toast
for only $6.00.
Serving time will be at 6:00 PM.
Come and bet on the wheel for
wonderful cakes.
At this time I would like to give a
big thank you to Becky Wisnoski for donating
a beautiful hand made quilt that will be
auctioned off at 8 PM on Spaghetti night.
And also a big thanks to our
commander for saving us the hall for our
fund raiser.
The proceeds for our fundraiser will
go to our next Girls State Program coming up
soon.
The next
8th
District Executive Committee meeting will be at Parker
Road American legion on Tuesday March 24th.
Dinner is served at 7:00 PM.
Ladies attending are asked to bring
side dishes.
We will be back visiting the Lexington Nursing
Home on Saturday March 28th at 3PM.
Anyone wanting to come can meet us at our
Post 560 at 2:30 PM.
We need dyed Easter eggs and cupcakes
